PHRANTONE 16-2024

28 Sept 2024

Dear Phran Klub,

I keep a little tupperware box in our tool closet for washers, bolts, and other potentially useful bits of metal that I can’t help but pick up off the street when I’m walking around town. The game in this Phrantone started off as one of those washers, plus a discarded ball bearing and a long piece of floss.

After gathering some feedback on the first prototype, I added the magnet upgrade. The third version utilized PVC tubing. The fourth included painted washers and featured pink surveyor’s string (which was too stringy). I borrowed a bandsaw and drill press from Calleva for the version you have now.

This fifth iteration of Bunny Foo Foo (f.k.a. “String Thing,” h/t Eleanor) has come a long way. Still, I know it can get even better.

As the old proverb says, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Next time you’re up for some satisfying, stimulating fun—that’s my intent here—play a couple of rounds with a friend or three. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Co-creatively,
Frankie with a P-H
